On Tuesday, Feb. 11, Sanborn Central/Woonsocket hosted Iroquois/Doland in a doubleheader in Woonsocket. The Blackhawks swept the competition and finished the night with four wins.
The girls’ junior varsity started with a strong win over the Chiefs and a final score of 45-11. The ladies were led by Kailynn Eggleston with 12 points. Tristan Jensen tallied nine points, and Ellie VonEye notched seven points and five rebounds. Ellie Evans helped out with six points, and Dayton Easton recorded four points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals.
The junior varsity boys were up next, and they also earned a victory over the visiting Chiefs with a final score of 41-24. SCW’s JV was led by Brady Larson with 14 points and three rebounds. Toby Kneen handed in 11 points and four rebounds, and Hayden Beigh had four points, seven assists and five rebounds.
The varsity girls had a really strong finish and pummeled the Chiefs with a final score of 75-27. Leading the way for the varsity Lady Blackhawks was Trista White with 17 points, five rebounds, six steals and four assists. Teya Moody dished out 15 points and four steals. Mariah Jost added 10 points, while Kaylee White contributed eight points, four rebounds and five assists. Ellie VonEye also had eight points.
The boys’ varsity earned the final win of the night, but it was not an easy one. The final score was Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 68, Iroquois/Doland 52. Noah Dickson led the Blackhawks with 25 points, six rebounds, seven assists and four steals. Tater Moody registered 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Malachi Bruce tallied 14 points, three rebounds and three assists, and Cayden Slykhuis offered 10 points and four rebounds.
