A special guest entered the Sanborn Central gym on the morning of Thursday, March 3. Through Dakota Assemblies, Toby the Magician/Wizard was invited to entertain the Pre-K through fifth grade students while also teaching them about the six pillars of good character that are the basis of the Character Counts! program. 

Toby’s program is called “Hex Yourself,” which refers to the number six, referring to the six pillars of character, which are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Toby used magic, props, comedy and even some of the students to help him get his message to the students about the importance of good character. He focused on teaching the kids that our character is what we are and how we act. It’s not just what we do when someone’s watching or asking us how we should act. 

The “Hex Yourself” program was funded by the Sanborn Central Booster Club and was very well received by all the students at Sanborn Central Elementary.
