On Saturday, Dec. 2, the Wessington Springs/Woonsocket/Wolsey-Wessington Warhawks traveled to Kimball for their first action on the mats for the season. Those who placed in the top four of their weight class are as follows: Ashton Hill earned third place at 120 pounds; Kaydin Carter earned third place at 126 pounds; Ethan Rearick finished at fourth place in the 138-pound weight class; Hayes Havlik received third place in the 157-pound weight class; at 175 pounds, Tyson Eddy brought home third place; and at 285 pounds, Cooper Goldammer earned fourth place for his efforts.
Caleb Kneen, a junior at Sanborn Central, wrestled in his first ever high-school competition, and although he didn’t place in the top four in his weight class of 190 pounds, he didn’t finish the day scoreless, winning one out of three matches for the tournament.
Next up for the Warhawks is a triangular with Kingsbury County and Watertown JV tonight (Thursday) in DeSmet. They then travel to Gregory for the Gregory Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 9, starting at 9 a.m.
