Woonsocket American Legion holds Memorial Day program

WOONSOCKET LEGION Post 29 members honor fallen heroes with the traditional three shots at Woonsocket’s Memorial Day Services held on Monday. Pictured are Dave Kogel, Dick Regynski, Keith Senska, Jim Hegg, Duane Peterson, Lindy Peterson, and Henry Linke.

Woonsocket Legion Post #29 chose to move forward with a Memorial Day program with some adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Post members felt it was very important as well as their duty to honor our veterans on this special day. 

Legion members and volunteers began the weekend on Friday night with the regular tradition of recognizing our deceased veterans by placing a flag on each grave at the Woonsocket cemeteries.  The Memorial Day celebration began with a special service for the “unknown dead” at the M.I.A. Memorial Plot at Eventide Cemetery which included a salute to our fallen comrades by members of the Legion, and Taps played by Aaron Linke.
