Saturday, Jan. 29 was a full day of Sanborn Central/Woonsocket youth basketball at the Woonsocket gymnasium. The morning kicked off with both third and fourth grade boys basketball games where the Blackhawks played against the Miller team. The kids worked on their real-game skills, had a lot of fun and played hard.
Following the third and fourth grade games, the fifth and sixth grade Blackhawk boys’ basketball team hosted a round robin inviting fifth and sixth grade teams from Iroquois, Miller and Pierre. The SCW boys played with heart all day. They defeated the Iroquois team but lost to the Miller and Pierre teams. The round robin was a good way for the Blackhawk boys to experience familiar and new competition. The real-game practice allowed the boys to grow in both their personal and team skills.
