On Sunday, April 24, the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket FFA headed to the South Dakota State University campus in Brookings for the 94th South Dakota State FFA Convention. The convention boasted 2,455 participants in attendance which the state officers mentioned was a record number for the two-day event. The SCW FFA sent 20 members to compete in five categories at the convention.
The Floriculture competition consisted of 50 teams and 166 individuals. The SCW Floriculture team came in 15th place.
The Livestock Evaluations competition was made up of 205 contestants and 60 teams participating. The SCW Livestock Evaluations team earned 17th place in their competition.
In the Milk Quality and Products competition there were 36 teams and 125 individuals participating. The SCW Milk Quality team placed 12th at the event.
The Natural Resources event was made up of 203 individuals and 58 teams competing. The SCW Natural Resources team placed 28th in their competition.
The Nursery/Landscaping competition had 88 individuals in 25 teams competing. The SCW Nursery/Landscaping team earned 12th place.
