On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Lady Blackhawks hosted the Wessington Springs Spartans at Woonsocket for the first game held in Woonsocket’s newly renovated gymnasium. The energy was high in the gym, as the junior varsity Lady Blackhawks had just defeated the Lady Spartans’ JV team two sets to one, and the varsity team hoped to accomplish a win as well.
The SCW girls came out with power and put the Lady Spartans back on their heels in the first set, winning 25-21; however, the Lady Spartans made some adjustments and won the next three sets, 11-25, 15-25 and 13-25, to win the match.
On Saturday, Sept. 17, the Lady Blackhawks hosted the Oldham-Ramona/Rutland Raiders at Sanborn Central. It was a tough battle at the net. The Raiders were a strong opponent, and the Lady Blackhawks lost in four sets, with scores of 12-25, 18-25, 25-22, and 17-25.
With a record of 5-8 so far this season, the Lady Blackhawks traveled to Wolsey on Tuesday, Sept. 20, to take on the Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds.
