The regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 29 met on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. President Dawn Rassel led the opening ceremonies with Chaplain Judy Stenzel leading the opening prayer.
Minutes of the September meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given by Barb Maurice and filed. No bills were presented for payment.
Dawn Rassel gave a report on the Fall District 6 Meeting held on Sept. 20 in Iroquois. The new department president is Jane Benzel, who shared her goals for this year.
It was decided to order emblems and magnets for members to wear when doing Auxiliary activities.
A newsletter was read from District 6 President Judy Winegar. Deadlines for Christmas stockings or sacks and poppy orders were given. The Department President’s Project this year is to purchase refrigerators for the women’s wings at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
A group meeting is scheduled for Nov. 14 at 1:30 p.m. in the community center at Woonsocket. Units to be represented are Gann Valley, Wessington Springs, Woonsocket, Letcher, Artesian, Howard and Canova.
Following the closing ceremonies, President Dawn Rassel adjourned the meeting.
The next meeting will be Nov. 3.
Bingo helper for October is Judy Hinker and she is furnishing bars. Cookies for the PVCC bingo will be furnished by Dorthy Foos and Tonya Miller.
