Fall Acreage Reporting: Producers now have to report acres for perennial forage and fall seeded crops to FSA by Nov. 15 each year starting this year for 2013 crops. Fall acreage reporting is new to FSA, but something producers have been doing for crop insurance for awhile now. For Sanborn/Jerauld and the surrounding area these crops mostly include: existing and new fall seeded alfalfa, grass for hay and grazing, rye and winter wheat.
Producers need to report the acres and intended use of all fall seeded and perennial crops assuming normal weather patterns. Report only those acres in which you have a share and risk of loss. If the crop is insurable report the same to your crop insurance agent.
If you know for sure that you are going to be losing some ground or adding some ground then go ahead and report that as soon as possible so that FSA can update records. This will help us avoid duplication of reports or missing a report.
NAP colony reports for honey producers must be filed by Jan. 2 and honey producers have 30 days from the date of a change to report the change.
All spring seeded crops and CRP will continue to be reported by July 15 each year.
CRP Haying/Grazing: Sanborn/Jerauld approved 296 applications for haying/grazing of CRP totaling 9,146 acres. We hope it helps. We appreciate everyone being nice to work with and sticking to their approved plan.
