The Town ‘n Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Aug. 26 at the Woonsocket Community Center. Leader Jen Sandness brought tootsie pops for the members to enjoy.
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Aaron Linke. The flag pledge was led by Charles Hunter, and the 4-H pledge was led by Lane Burkel. Roll call was led by Megan Linke with the question, “Favorite memory of summer,” and it was answered by 13 members.
The secretary’s report was read by Nathan Linke and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was presented by Xavier Baysinger and approved as presented.
Nathan and Aaron reported on both TLC and National 4-H Shooting Sports in .22 rifle.
Activity reports were given as follows: Horse Show – Henry Hunter, Public Speaking Contest – Acaiya Schultz, Poultry Show – Xavier Baysinger, Fashion Revue – Hope Baysinger, Dog Show – Charles Hunter, Ag Olympics – Lane Burkel, Achievement Day BBQ – Emily Ohlrogge, Sheep Show – Megan Linke.
Elijah and Isaiah Schultz talked about their collections that they exhibited at Achievement Days. The club also discussed peach sales.
Under new business, the club talked about trying to find a date and more ideas for a community service project. Leader Paula Linke encouraged all to make sure to get 4-H exhibits to the 4-H office so they can be tagged for State Fair. The club discussed working on record books, which are due Sept. 30.
National 4-H Week is Oct. 2-8, so the club is thinking of ideas to celebrate. Paula talked about the Sept. 23-24 barrel setting schedule.
Following the meeting, Hope Baysinger gave a demonstration on making glitter candle holders.
Lance Wu, an IFYE student staying with the Schultz family, presented information on his home country, Taiwan, and talked about the International Foreign Youth Exchange program opportunities.
