The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Sept. 23 in the Community Center at Woonsocket. Prior to the meeting, club members enjoyed a meal served by the Brooks and Ohlrogge families and worked on their record books.
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Corrie Snedeker. The Flag Pledge was led by Morgan Schmiedt and the 4-H pledge was led by Emily Ohlrogge. Shaun Snedeker led roll call and 13 members answered the question “What is your favorite football team?” The secretary’s report was read by Rex Schlicht and approved as presented. Elliott Ohlrogge gave the treasurer’s report and it was approved as presented.
Old business was the schedule for the barrel setting on Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 26-28 in Huron. Plans were finalized to celebrate National 4-H week Oct. 7-13. Plans include that 4-H posters will be put around town and the club will visit classrooms to talk about 4-H. The club will order some promotional items to give away. The entire county will be asked to wear 4-H green on Thursday of that week.
Following the meeting, Elliott Ohlrogge presented an illustrated talk on making a photo collage display board for home or to give as a gift. Evan Ohlrogge gave a talk on Farm Safety.
The next meeting will be scheduled in October and kick off the new 4-H year. Plans are in the works for a fun activity like visiting a corn maze.
