The Town ‘N Kountry Kids-Blue Group met on Oct. 21 in the Letcher Community Center. Riley Zoss called the meeting to order with 18 members present.
The secretary’s report was given by Meghan Chada and the treasurer’s report was approved.
Old business: Logan Moody gave a report on National 4-H Week at the Sanborn Central School. The chicken barbecue was discussed with input needed to decide if chicken is wanted for next year. Record books were discussed with a future meeting to be held to assist setting goals for applying for awards.
New business: Election of officers – motion made and carried to carry over the officers from the last 4-H year: President Riley Zoss, Vice-President Jenna Skinner, Secretaries Logan Moody and Meghan Chada, Treasurer Bailey Moody, Recreation Renee Farmer, Photography April Farmer.
Online registration for the coming year can be found at www.4honline.com. All members and volunteers need to register online.
Club schedules for the 2012-2013 year were handed out with dates and demonstration list. Recognition Event will be Sunday, Nov. 18 with members bringing cookies for the sponsor plates and lunch. The American Education Week committee consists of Brady Larson, Bailey Moody, Madi Moody and Renee Farmer.
It was decided to have a Fire Safety Luncheon in the Letcher Community Center on Nov. 4 at noon. The club will be giving away smoke alarms and batteries to promote fire safety in the Letcher area. The committee consists of: Jenna Skinner, Riley Zoss, Haley Degen and Logan Moody.
It was decided to donate money to the Sanborn County Commissioners to assist the roofing of the 4-H building at Forestburg.
The club will be assisting with the community Halloween party to be held in the Letcher Community Center on Oct. 28 starting at 3 p.m. We will also be participating in the Trunk-or-Treat to follow behind the center.
The Blue Group will be assisting with setting barrels on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Jenna Skinner has applied for the CWF trip next summer.
It was discussed to assist with the kids vending event in Letcher.
Jenna Skinner provided Halloween cards for the members to sign to be sent to senior citizens in our community.
The next meeting will be Nov. 4 in the community center for the Fire Safety Luncheon.
