Lenora Pawlowski

Wessington Springs

Lenora Cora Pawlowski, 88, passed away on March 19, 2024, at Weskota Manor Nursing Home in Wessington Springs. 

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, March 30, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wessington Springs. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Lenora, and her twin sister Leona, were born on Aug. 30, 1935, in Wessington Springs to Carl and Magdalena (Mettler) Roduner. She was baptized on July 5, 1936, and confirmed on June 25, 1950. Lenora attended Wessington Springs High School, where she met Lyle Pawlowski. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1954. She pursued her education at Dakota State University in Madison before transferring to Springfield, where she earned her two-year teaching certificate. Lenora began teaching in a one-room school at the Willman Schoolhouse in 1956.

On June 1, 1958, Lenora married Lyle Pawlowski, in Wessington Springs. They settled in rural Woonsocket before moving to their farm in rural Buffalo County in 1963. Lenora paused her teaching career to raise their family. Lenora was a dedicated mother. She was a 4-H leader for the Buffalo County Rangers and the Valley Springs Rustlers 4-H clubs. She was involved in Zion Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, quilting, and assisting with the annual pancake supper. Lenora later returned to teaching, spending one year in Gann Valley and 12 years at the Spring Valley Colony in rural Jerauld County.

Lenora enjoyed various activities, including spending time with the Senior Citizens group, participating in Red Hat events, Extension Club, and working as an Apartment Dining Aide at Weskota Manor for ten years. She enjoyed summers as a campground host with Lyle at West Bend State Park.

Lenora is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lyle; her children, Lola (Paul) Twedt, Lisa (Jack) Davis, Lee (Tina) Pawlowski, and Lori (JJ) Lafferty; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Arlena Hauck, Luella Teveldal, and her twin sister, Leona (Lu) Glaser; in-laws, Kenieth Pawlowski, Joe and Valetta Fee, and Glen and Cindi Pawlowski; and many cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and spouses, Ray and Doris Roduner and Melvin and Evelyn Roduner; a sister-in-law, Betty Pawlowski; and two brothers-in-law, Leonard Teveldal and Alfred Hauck.

Myron Grosz

Mitchell

Myron Grosz, 71, of Mitchell, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 13, at Bittner Funeral Chapel.  Burial was at West Lawn Cemetery in Letcher. Visitation was Tuesday at Bittner Funeral Chapel with a prayer service.

Myron Kenneth Grosz was born to Gilbert and Fernella Grosz in Eureka on Oct. 3, 1952. After living on a farm south of Eureka, the family moved to Ipswich in 1961. Myron graduated from Ipswich High School in May of 1970. After attending Mitchell Tech from 1970 to May of 1972, he worked construction in Iowa, Sioux Falls, and The Big Stone Power Plant. In August of 1975, he started his 33-year teaching career at Mitchell Technical Institute. On June 4, 1988, he married Dawn Edwards in Letcher. Myron retired in May of 2008. He and Dawn sold their farm that fall and moved to Mitchell. Myron spent quite a bit of time fishing on the Missouri River and made several trips to Lake Erie. Myron was a partner of Dean/Edwards and Associates Auction for 34 years. 

Myron is survived by his two brothers, Morris of Ipswich and Paul (Terry) of Alliance, Neb.; sister, Janet (Burt) Manchester of Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law, Debbie (Ray) Lee of Green River, Wyo.; brother-in-law, Lanning (Jerri) Edwards of Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

Myron was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn, in 2022; his parents; paternal and maternal grandparents; brother-in-law, Bruce Hildebrand; sister-in-law, Patty Hildebrand; and parents-in-law, Lyle and Faye Edwards.

Jane Lee

Sioux Falls

Jane Lee, 70, of Sioux Falls, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Canton.

A memorial service celebrating Jane’s life will be held Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at Forestburg Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery, rural Letcher, at a later date.

Jane Renea Lee was born June 2, 1953, the oldest child of Philip and Phyllis (Volzke) Lee at Methodist Hospital in Mitchell. Jane grew up on the family farm located southeast of Forestburg. Jane was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Jane attended all twelve years of school in Forestburg, graduating from Forestburg High School in 1971. Jane went on to further her education by graduating from Mitchell Vocational Technical School in 1972 and National College of Business in 1987.

Jane cherished her childhood home and memories on the farm, but she did not stick to the country life. Jane spent her early adult years traveling and experiencing what the world had to offer. As she settled down, the highlight of her career was working in Congressman Tim Johnson’s office in Rapid City. 

Jane was known for her warm and caring nature. She loved to cross-stitch and journal. She also was an avid reader who kept up with the news and politics of the day.

Jane is survived by her son, Timothy Lee (Christina Crane) of Sioux Falls; sister, Sandra (Warren) Barton of Centerville, Ohio; brother, Robert (Kayleen) Lee of Mitchell; and one niece and one nephew.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Phyllis (Volzke) Lee, and her grandparents, Gottlieb and Nellie (Zoss) Volzke and Jacob and Edith (Maxwell) Lee.
