Kim Burg, Marketing and Foundation Coordinator at Avera Weskota Memorial Hospital from Wessington Springs, won the Avera Spirit of Stewardship Award at the Avera Quality Congress held at Sioux Falls on Aug. 22 in the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
She was first nominated by her co-workers locally and then won the honor system-wide. Burg sees job challenges as opportunities. She has been instrumental in implementing fundraising campaigns, community education, wellness events, school outreach and the Employee Giving Campaign.  She also volunteers her talents in her church and the community.
Burg said, “This would not have been possible if I didn’t have such a great team of people to work with every day.  It was nerve-racking getting up in front of the record setting 600 people to give the final acceptance speech of the day.”
Two awards were given out for spirit of compassion, two for hospitality and one for stewardship across the system.  Projects were also honored.  Burg has worked at the hospital since 2003.
