Wessington Springs Pheasants Forever held its annual youth hunt on Saturday, Oct. 6.
Eighteen youth and their mentors enjoyed a day of trap shooting and pheasant hunting with professional guides and dogs. Youth were treated to a nice hunt package that included hunting apparel, two gun raffles and lunch.
Event chair Darwin Weeldreyer stated, “This is the most enjoyable event that our chapter puts on each year. There is nothing more rewarding than to witness youth enjoy the great outdoors alongside their dad, mom, grandpa, grandma or whoever took time to spend the day with their special young one.”
Many chapter volunteers work for months preparing for the event. Proceeds from the chapter’s annual fall banquet are used to put on the youth hunt. The chapter’s annual fall banquet is Sunday, Oct. 21 in the American Legion at Wessington Springs. Doors open at 5 p.m.
