The regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 29 met at 6:30 p.m. in the community center on Oct. 2.
President Dawn Rassel led the opening ceremonies. Chaplain Judy Stenzel led the opening prayer and Marian Andersen, music chairman, led the National Anthem.
The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved. Barb Maurice gave the treasurer’s report, which was approved.
Membership is now 40 members paid. The goal this year is 94. The dues notice from National was sent out late this year so those who have already paid their dues will still receive a notice. Their dues have been sent in and we thank them for their support.
A newsletter was read from District 6 President Theresa Maeschen. The District will now be serving veterans in the State Veteran’s Home at Hot Springs. The Unit is to make and send the same number of Christmas stockings as last year.
It was decided to send money for the Christmas Gift Shop project this year instead of gift items.
A report was given on the September Blood Drive. Twenty-four units of blood were obtained.
It was decided to again give out dictionaries and constitution pamphlets to students at Woonsocket Elementary School.
Due to Nov. 6 being election day it was decided to have the next meeting on Monday, Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Bingo helper for September is Judy Hinker and she is also furnishing bars.
Cookies for the PVCC bingo in October will be furnished by Dorthy Foos and Tonya Miller.
