Relay For Life held July 27 at Lake Prior

Luminaries create breathtaking mirrored reflections

The annual Jerauld/Sanborn Relay For Life was held on a gorgeous, cool Saturday evening at Lake Prior.
Luminaries were set up all around the lake and the island which, paired with the calm, mirror-like water created quite a beautiful scene.
A meal was held at the community center to kick off the event at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., survivors were invited to the island to let loose balloons and make the first lap around the lake.
Some survivors shared their stories, there was music, face-painting for the kids and snow cones sponsored by Dakotaland.
The Relay is held in Woonsocket every other year, so will be in Wessington Springs at the track/football field next summer.

KEITH SENSKA shares his survivor story with the crowd. He is recovering from his successful battle with tongue cancer.

LAMAE PETERSON is shown manning the Whiting Memorial camp as Judy Hinker and Linda Grohs, Wessington Springs, sign up for the baskets they were giving away.
