The 14th annual Relay For Life of Jerauld and Sanborn counties will be held Saturday, July 27, from 5 to 10 p.m., at Lake Prior in Woonsocket.
This award-winning event is organized by supporters of the American Cancer Society to raise funds for cancer research, prevention, treatment, advocacy and support. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the American Cancer Society.
A free-will donation meal, a chili cook-off, entertainment, speakers and special presentations are all planned to help celebrate victories, remember those who have died and fought back against cancer. In addition, a Poker Run is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, starting and ending at the Red Hog Saloon in Alpena, with registration beginning at 10 a.m.
Area businesses, families, and organizations are invited to get involved by becoming sponsors, setting up booths, joining the leadership team, and/or selling luminaries to remember those who have died from cancer or related illness as well as to honor cancer survivors.
Those wishing to sell or purchase luminaries may pick up forms at First National Bank in Woonsocket or Jerauld County Community Health Center in Wessington Springs. A bank night for turning in forms and money will be scheduled in July. Those wishing more information may contact Dave Kogel (350-7731) in Woonsocket, or Rev.
