ABERDEEN — Lisa Snedeker of Woonsocket served as a voting delegate during the National Farmers Union’s annual convention March 2-5, at Springfield, Mass.
Snedeker is one of four delegates who were elected during South Dakota Farmers Union’s state convention last month in Aberdeen.
Snedeker farms with her husband, Mark, and their children near Woonsocket and works at Dakotaland Federal Credit Union in Huron. She attended the four-day convention in Massachusetts to discuss the organization’s policies and voted on its final policy program.
Legislative staff at National Farmers Union use the policy program to work with lawmakers in Washington, D.C., on issues important to family farmers and ranchers. The policy is crafted by a grassroots process that brings issues from the local, county and state levels to the national delegates for consideration.
Other delegates elected were Paul Dennert of Columbia, Steve Harwood of Union Center and Tammy Basel of Union Center. Farmers Union President Doug Sombke of Groton, Vice President Wayne Soren of Lake Preston, and board member Terry Sestak of Tabor will also serve as voting delegates at the convention.
