The majority of Sanborn County residents may never need an emergency medical technician, but if they do, it’s good to know there are volunteers in our community who take the time to train and serve in this capacity.
At this time there are eight EMTs and six emergency vehicle drivers (EVOC) serving Sanborn County, but more EMTs are always needed to keep this service viable in Sanborn County.
EMT classes will begin on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Woonsocket Community Center, and run through February. There is a cost to attend the class, which will be determined by the number of people who sign up. Participants must be 18 years of age to take the class and anyone in the county and surrounding area are welcome.
For more information or to register for the class, contact Jim VanDenHemel (605-350-4365) or Gena Eagle (605-770-3580).
