BRIDGEWATER – A Parkston man, identified as Benjamin Tollefson, 28, died Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash near Bridgewater.
Tollefson was driving a 1997 Ford pickup west on South Dakota Highway 42 when it crossed the center line. It collided with an eastbound truck tractor pulling a semi-trailer. A harvesting combine was on the trailer.
Tollefson died of his injuries. The male driver of the truck tractor, Matthew Geidel, 26, Letcher was not injured. The two drivers were the only occupants involved in the crash. Both were wearing seatbelts.
The Highway Patrol continues to investigate. Other agencies responding to the scene were the Hanson County Sheriff’s Office, Emery Fire Department and Mitchell Ambulance.
