Tennessee teen shoots own hand while hunting near Letcher

A 13-year-old suffered a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the hand while pheasant hunting on Saturday around eight miles north of Letcher.
The teen was transported to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. According to a report Monday by the Daily Republic, South Dakota Conservation Officer Andy Petersen declined to give details on the incident, as it was still under investigation.
A news release from the Game, Fish and Parks does state, however, that a young hunter was accidentally shot in the hand over the weekend. The release states that the hunter fell while chasing a wounded bird and when they went to pick up the gun, it discharged, injuring his hand.
