Nine members of the Woonsocket Fire Department took part in the Sioux Falls Firefighters Association Memorial Stair Climb “Step Up for Heroes” this past Saturday at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls.
“Step Up for Heroes” is a memorial stair climb where community members, firefighters, law enforcement and members of the military climb 110 flights of stairs in remembrance of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives in the World Trade Center Buildings on Sept. 11, 2001. Each participant climbed in memory of one fallen 9/11 hero and was given a medal with their name on it.
Woonsocket firefighters who took part in the event were: Jason Bruce, Steven Davis, Darin Kilcoin, Brandon Goergen, Garrett Foos, Neal Hiemstra, Aaron Fink, Joel Rassel and Scott Beekman.
The event was sponsored by the Sioux Falls Firefighters Association.
