It’s been two years since Rachel Cyriacks was last heard from on Nov. 13, 2013, and while the case has cooled down, the Sanborn County Sheriff’s office does not consider the case cold.
While the leads have thinned out, Sheriff Tom Fridley says tips are still coming in and they continue to follow up on each and every call they receive.
Sheriff Fridley says that Cyriacks’ estranged husband, Bradley, remains the only person of interest in this case.
He said they are working to find a quilt that they believe was with Cyriacks when she was last seen. The quilt was gifted to Cyriacks by a local church group and meant a lot to the then-30-year-old.
Cyriacks pick-up was found at the Huron home of her husband, Brad, in January of 2014, with extensive damage to its undercarriage, and was taken in as evidence at that time.
The Cyriacks home in Woonsocket was vandalized in April of 2014, with an assumed message to police written on the front of the house, saying “… Pigs Riverside For Life.”
A number of searches have been held throughout the area over the past two years, on foot, by helicopter and with cadaver dogs. A search was conducted in September of the James River near Huron using Side-scan sonar.
Side-scan sonar is used to search items and debris underwater. It has the ability to create an image of large areas of a water body’s floor.
As always, Fridley encourages people to stay vigilant and report anything that may help with their investigation. He says the family and community continues to hope for closure.
