The Town ‘n Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Dec. 13 at the Woonsocket Community Center.
Prior to the meeting, junior and senior club members talked about working towards attaining the Leadership, Citizenship and Key awards.
The meeting was called to order by President Rex Schlicht. The flag pledge was led by Trinity Kotilinek and the 4-H pledge was led by Shiloh Senska. Aaron Linke led roll call with 25 members answering the question, “What is your favorite winter activity?”
The secretary’s report was read by Junior Secretary Acaiya Schultz and approved as presented. The treasurer’s report was presented by Treasurer Xavier Baysinger and approved.
Under old business, the BOSDRC grant was discussed. The club received $400 to use towards the purchase of rabbit and poultry cages. A work day will be held to put together cages sometime this spring.
Emily Ohlrogge gave a report on the Recognition Event. Spens Schlicht reported on American Education Week activities. Braxton Gentles told the club about Christmas tree decorating at the Courthouse.
Under new business, the club talked about doing citizenship activities and helping raise money for the American Legion. It was decided to assist with a flag burning ceremony with the Legion this coming spring. It was also decided to pursue sponsoring a 50/50 to raise money for the Legion at a basketball game. In addition, a committee was appointed to pursue having a potluck supper with entertainment as a fundraising event for the Legion.
Members talked about scheduling a date for a 4-H bowling night over Christmas break.
Following the meeting, club members wrote Christmas cards to their elderly friends, signed thank yous to the gold 4-H sponsors, wrote notes of cheer to a person of their choice, and put together goodie plates. Members then delivered goodie plates to volunteer firemen and EMTs for their Christmas Caring project.
The next meeting will be a bowling party over Christmas break.
