Frances (Steckel) Lee of Mitchell and formerly of Letcher will celebrate 100 years Wednesday, Jan. 27.
Frances contracted polio at five months old, which caused her to wear a brace and use crutches. She attended country school in Letcher and graduated from Mitchell High School. She then attended Nettleton Commercial College.
Following school she worked in Mitchell, then moved to Washington State where she went to work for General Electric and then Kadlec Hospital as a transcriptionist.
Frances Steckel married Ray Lee in 1959. The two worked together, he as a mechanic and she as his bookkeeper. In their later years, they retired to Chandler, Ariz.
Frances is at home at Countryside Living in Mitchell and would appreciate birthday greetings sent to: 2100 N. Wisconsin St. Apt. 211, Mitchell, SD 57301.
