The regular meeting of Unit 29 American Legion Auxiliary was held on Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m.
President Dawn Rassel led the opening ceremonies, and Chaplain Judy Stenzel led the opening prayer. The minutes of the September meeting and treasurer’s report were given and approved.
Dawn Rassel gave a report on the Fall District 6 meeting held Sept. 30 in DeSmet. The poppy chairman reported that the veterans that make the poppies get 10 cents for each poppy, giving the veteran a little spending money and therapy as well. Units are urged to order more poppies.
A newsletter from Linda Holmes, District 6 president, was read and discussed. The group units meeting for Woonsocket, Wessington Springs, Canova, Artesian, Gann Valley, Howard and Letcher will be held Oct. 29, at Wessington springs at 1:30 p.m.
Membership is now 47 members. Our goal is 77.
Barb Maurice gave a report on the progress of the Christmas Stocking project.
Following the closing ceremonies, the meeting was adjourned by President Dawn Rassel. The next meeting will be Nov. 1.
Bingo helper for October is Judy Hinker, and she is furnishing bars. Cookies for the Prairie View Healthcare Community Bingo will be furnished by Dorthy Foos and Tonya Miller.
