Emily Grace Wittenhagen, 89, of Mitchell, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, at Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 13 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell with burial in Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening, April 12 at the Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.
Emily Wittenhagen was born in Platte to Hans and Lela (Ellsworth) Olson on Nov. 16, 1926. On April 21, 1945, she married Max Wittenhagen in Grand Island, Neb., and they were married 41 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl (Ken) Floberg of Overgaard, Ariz., Linda (Lee) James of Mitchell, and Marla (John) Finck of Tripp; five granddaughters; three grandsons; 18 great-grandchildren, two great great-granddaughters; three sisters, Lillian Greenway, Viola Winters and Joanne Vogel, all of Mitchell; and one sister-in-law, Donna Newlon of Lead.
Emily was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; her parents; two sisters, Gertrude Twombley and Esther Johnson; her mother and father-in-law, Anton and Anna Wittenhagen; and three sisters-in-law, Alma Titze, Eleanor Grohs and Luetta Hornback.
