Seven members of Hope Circle met on Sept. 8, at the Parish church and enjoyed a meal furnished by hostess, Jacki Aymar. Those attending were Jacki Aymar, Barb Coulthard, Vicki Linke, Evelyn Mitzel, Vickie Hines, JoAnn Schladweiler and Sue Larson.
Jacki read devotions from “Jesus Calling” before Vicki Linke, chairman, called the meeting to order. Sue Larson, recorder and treasurer, read the June meeting minutes and gave the treasurer’s report. Jo Ann Schladweiler, W/ELCA treasurer, gave her financial report. Four hundred backpacks for school kits had been purchased to have on hand for the next two years.
The Lutherans Outdoors Quilt Auction will be held on Oct. 16 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
The Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes were discussed. Gift suggestions were read as a reminder of what to include. They will be packed at the November meeting for delivery to the Huron collection site.
Rally Day will be held following worship services on Sept. 11, at the Parish church.
Two Thrivent Financial for Lutherans grants of $250 each have been requested by Rich and Vicki Linke, one toward the “Snack Pack” program and one for the Fall Supper to be held on Sept. 25 at the community center by the members of the Parish church.
The Officer’s Fall Workshop will be held in Corsica on Sept. 17, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church beginning at 8:30 a.m. A brunch will be served mid-morning at a cost of $6.00.
The next Mission Quilting session will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, at the Parish church beginning at 10 a.m. During the Sept. 1 session, five ladies completed two quilts, 12 Methodist health kits for the Bishop’s Ingathering, and 17 school kits.
The October meeting will be hosted by Vickie Hines on Oct. 13 at the church.
The Bible study was entitled “Jonah and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day” based on the book of Jonah. The subtitle was “When God Forgives the Guilty.”
