The regular meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 29 met on Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Prairie View Apartments Solarium.
The minutes of the June meeting and treasurer’s report were given and approved.
A newsletter from the new District 6 president, Linda Holmes of Mitchell, was read and discussed. The newly elected department president is Melanie Martens, whose theme is “Have You Hugged a Veteran Today?” and her project this year is a new public address system for the Hot Springs State Veterans Home. The fall District 6 meeting will be held in DeSmet on Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m.
Our current membership is 16. This year’s goal is 77.
Dawn Rassel gave a report on the July 4th bingo held at the Community Center.
It was decided to pay our obligations and donations to the Christmas Gift Shop and Special Olympics.
Following the closing ceremonies, President Dawn adjourned the meeting.
