The Town ‘n Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H club met on June 27 at the Community Center in Woonsocket. Prior to the meeting, members enjoyed supper served by the Ohlrogge family.
The meeting was called to order by President Rex Schlicht. The flag pledge was led by Hope Baysinger, and the 4-H pledge was led by Devyn Brooks. Roll call was led by Spens Schlicht, with 19 members answering the question, “What is your favorite 4-H project?” We welcomed new club member Lane Burkel.
The secretary’s report was read by Jr. Secretary Acaiya Schultz and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was presented by Xavier Baysinger and approved as presented. The club will present a check to the Sanborn County Leaders for $400 from the BOSDRC grant they received to help purchase poultry cages.
Emily Ohlrogge reported on participating in the Special Foods Contest where she made Creamy Chicken Tortellini. Spens talked about setting barrels for the National Barrel Horse Association championships over Memorial Day weekend. The club made $900 from setting barrels. Kaitlyn Swenson told us about what she did at 4-H Camp. Rex reported on his presentation as the speaker at the Woonsocket Memorial Day service.
Under new business, the club discussed planning a community service activity. It was decided to pursue a clean-up project in Woonsocket.
In July, the club needs to plan for peach sales, BBQ ticket sales and a 4-H Grounds work night.
Following the meeting, Acaiya Schultz presented an illustrated talk on her sheep project.
