The Woonsocket Community Library is doing a survey of the public in the community to determine how much interest there is in South Dakota Titles To Go.
Titles To Go is an audiobook and ebook collaborative collection to which the library can purchase a yearly subscription through the vendor, OverDrive. The South Dakota State Library has negotiated a special subscription rate. This program would enable patrons to download books to their computers, Nooks, Kindles, smartphones, etc.
Titles are available in a variety of popular genres, including bestsellers, fiction, romance, suspense, children’s and young adult, business, self-help, language learning and other non-fiction. However, patrons need to realize that when a new book is available they may need to be put on a wait list just like at a physical library.
Currently, there are about 13,000 titles available of e-books and audiobooks with some titles having multiple copies. This number is a moving target as new titles come and old titles are dropped.
Patrons would need to register at the Woonsocket Library to get a number ID if the subscription is purchased. They would then be able to download titles anywhere 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Also, the Library is currently accepting good, clean used books, current magazines and videos or DVDs. They may be brought to the library on Monday, Wednesday or Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. or on Tuesday and Thursday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
