The Town of Artesian Council met on May 3, 2017, in regular session at the Artesian Community Center. Council Member K. Effling called the meeting to order with Council Member C. Danek, Council Member S. Richard, and Finance Officer G. Effling present. Also present were: T. Fridley, Harvey Staffen and Raymond Mathis.
The minutes of the April 5, 2017, meeting was read; motion to approve by Richard, seconded by Danek, motion carried. Finance Officer Reports were read; motion to approve by Danek, seconded by Richard, motion carried. The following vouchers were presented for the month.
US Treasury – $445.00

Committee Reports:
Streets – discussion on the streets that are in need of upkeep. Harvey Staffen received the bid for gravel.
Lagoon – reviewed the surface water discharge permit.
Parks – discussion on the improvements that will be completed at the campground and ballpark. The playground was discussed and tabled until more information is available at the June meeting. The ballpark field was discussed and at this time is in good condition. A local group has volunteered to do some maintenance on the dug out areas and bleachers at the ball park. S. Richard made the motion to pay up to $150.00 towards supplies, provided an invoice is submitted, seconded by C. Danek. City invoices were discussed.
New Business:
R. Mathis was present to bring a token of appreciation to the board as a thank you for their continued service and the efforts they are doing to make Artesian a great place to live and raise a family. The board thanks him for his generosity and thoughtfulness! Insurance renewal was discussed. Metal signs will be ordered and placed at the campground (to clean up), ball diamonds (no dogs allowed) and city dump (trees, leaves and grass clippings only), motion by S. Richard, seconded by C. Danek, to purchase signs.
There being no further business brought before the council, meeting adjourned. The next regular meeting is scheduled for June 7, 2017, at the Community Center – 7:30 p.m.
