Moore helps feed homeless in North Carolina through AWOL program

AWOL 22 web    A group of University of South Dakota students traveled to Charlotte, N.C., to volunteer and learn about issues that face the nation, such as homelessness and food insecurity.
Rachelle Moore, daughter of Jerry and Pam Moore, of Artesian, was a participant.
The trip lasted nine days and included 11 different community partners, including the Hospitality House, Samaritan House, the Rebound program, MedAssist, the Salvation Army, and multiple men’s and women’s shelters. This was a University sanctioned trip run through the program AWOL (Alternated Week of Learning).
The students were able to make over 2,000 meals for the homeless and donate over a combined total of 400 hours of volunteer time for the 8,000 people in Charlotte, who are still homeless.
