The Sanborn Central/Woonsocket cross country team made a notable showing in the 281 Conference Cross Country meet Wednesday, on the Wessington Springs Golf Course.
Spens Schlicht finished in fifth place with a time of 20:04.65 in the Boys’ Varsity 5K, while Malachi Bruce (20:55.67) and Braxton Gentles (20:58.91) came in ninth and 10th, respectively. In the Boys’ Junior High 2K, Gabe Freidel earned second place with a time of 9:16.76.
Ellie VonEye took fifth place in the Girls’ Varsity 5K with a time of 23:35.85, and Trinity Boschee was eighth (25:23.23). In the Junior Varsity 4K, Hannah Terkildsen took second place (19:20.95), and Bella Fry won fifth place (11:05.89) in the Girls’ Junior High 2K.
The James Valley Christian girls’ and boys’ teams each claimed the 281 Conference title.
