A 30-year-old Woonsocket man was sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty to sexual contact without consent.
Stephen Simon of Woonsocket was originally charged with third-degree rape and sexual contact without consent for having sex with a woman while she was intoxicated and incapable of giving consent.
With a plea of guilty to the lesser misdemeanor charge, Simon was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,084, along with serving the year in jail.
The incident occurred on April 9 in Sanborn County.
