Arson is the suspected cause of a fire that destroyed an abandoned home in Woonsocket on the night of Jan. 17. At around 5:15 p.m., a fire was reported at a building that most people refer to as “the old Cunningham place.”

The property is presently owned by Shannon Freidel and was actually slated to be destroyed in a scheduled, controlled burn with the Woonsocket Fire Department on Saturday, Jan. 20.

The definitive start of the fire has not been determined as of yet, but authorities know for certain that it was not an accidental fire.
