Blackhawk Wrestlers continue to work hard through the season

To put their shoulders to the mat is the point of the sport, and Bailey Schmiedt did just that at the wrestling tournament in Miller on Saturday.

The Wessington Springs/Woonsocket wrestlers traveled to Miller on Saturday, Jan. 6, for the Miller Invitational. With 17 teams in attendance, the gym was full of tough competition. The Blackhawks had a good finish with six wrestlers placing. They were as follows: Seth Tebay – fifth place at 152 pounds, Luke Knifer – sixth place at 170 pounds, John Witte – fifth place and Bailey Schmiedt – sixth place, both at 182 pounds, Riley Stevens – fifth place at 195 pounds, and Collin Schmiedt – eighth place at 220 pounds.
