Nine members of Hope Circle from Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist Church met on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. at Prairie View Healthcare Community. Attending were JoAnn Schladweiler, Barb Coulthard, Julie Davis, Ruth Jensen, Evelyn Mitzel, Vicki Linke, Jannet Larson, Vickie Hines, and Sue Larson. A potluck meal was enjoyed prior to the meeting. Vickie Hines read devotions.
Vicki Linke, chairman, called the meeting to order. Sue Larson read the previous minutes from June and gave the treasurer’s report.
A new “puppet ministry” is in the beginning stages by the Junior Youth Group. Amy Miiller and Rich Linke have each requested a Thrivent Action Grant of $250 to use for building a stage and for puppets.
Our benefit to raise building funds for the new church was discussed. The Community Center will be decorated on Friday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m. for the Antique Quilts Trunk Show and salad luncheon on Sept. 8. Silent Auction items, door prizes, and raffles on two quilts will also be held.
Vicki Linke announced that she delivered 34 boxes containing 226 school kits to Parker Transfer in Sioux Falls for delivery to Lutheran World Relief. A mass assembling day occured during the week of Vacation Bible Camp with the Confirmation class helping.
Julie Davis announced that the remaining funds from Vacation Bible Camp were given to the Sanborn County Food Pantry.
Sue Larson offered to pay for the advertising and a “Thank You” for the quilting event fundraiser.

Sept. 16: Pancake feed at The Dakota Roadhouse following worship to benefit the building of the new church;
Oct. 6: Officers Fall Workshop in Scotland;
Oct. 7: Fall Roast Beef Supper at St. Wilfrid Catholic Church;
Oct. 20: Legion Pheasant Opener Poker Night with a raffle on a $500 Cabela’s gift certificate;
Oct. 21: Chili Feed by the Youth Group at the Community Center.
Vicki reminded everyone that “Operation Shoebox” will be in November and all should begin gathering items for a boy or girl to be shipped overseas by the organization “Samaritan’s Purse.”
Our October meeting will be on Oct. 11 with Barb Coulthard as hostess at 5:30 p.m. at Prairie View Healthcare Communtiy. Jacki Aymar will host the November meeting on the 8th and Sue Larson will host the Christmas meeting in her home on Dec. 13.
The Bible study was taken from Joel 2:13 and was titled “Turn, Turn, Turn: A Time for Faithful Repentance” from The Gather Magazine. Prairie View residents attending were Alice Baruth, Babe Larson, Myrna Hjelm and Ellen Ann Mason.
