Letcher Town Board proceedings

June 19th, 2018

Mayor Chada called the meeting to order with Hoffman, Larson, and Meier in attendance. 

A motion was made by Hoffman, seconded by Larson, carried, to approve June 5th, 2018, minutes as read.

A motion was made by Larson, seconded by Hoffman, carried, to approve the financials as presented.

Old Business: 

Estimates to chip seal the east end of Main Street are still being waited for.  

Discussion was held on the water sample report. 

Discussion was held on the meeting that was held with the Townships/Town Board Members.  

A motion was made to hire Dawson Construction for Blading the Town of Letcher.  

Discussion was held on applications placed for custodian at the community center.  

Discussion was held on nuisances with lawns not being mowed. Letters will be sent out. 

The dock has been installed and Rossy Park equipment/supplies has come in and has been installed and fixed. 

Discussion was held on the first reading of the new ordinances for the Town Of Letcher.

A motion was made and approved on the first reading of the ordinances. 

Discussion was held on the appointment coming up with Safety Benefits with our workman’s comp insurance. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, June 8th.  

LCDF discussed at the meeting that they received the grant from Central Electric for $2,300.00 and a grant from Santel for $500.00.  They talked to the board about using the grant and purchasing a refrigerator for the community center/and purchasing new counter tops for the south side of the kitchen.  

D. Northrup with the Legion discussed with the board that the legion is able to pay $200.00 a month rent for the community center.

Discussion was held on 2019 dues for the Planning and Development District III

Discussion was held on Vantage Point information that was sent in the mail. 

Discussion was held on security cameras. Mark had quotes from Santel, Morris Electric, and 24/7 Surveillance. The board went over information that was provided.

Discussion was held on the dumpsters being used by other people and if there is an option to lock them. Miedema Sanitation will be called, and if they have an option, the board will go with that. The board also discussed pouring a concrete slab by the community center for the dumpsters.

New Business: 

Discussion was held on past due accounts. Letters are being sent out. 

No applications were received for the Community Center custodian position. Angie Larson will be the custodian at the Community Center.  

Discussion was held on the Safety Meeting with our workman’s comp. The report from the meeting is being waited for.  

Discussion was held on the second reading of the new ordinances for the Town of Letcher. 

A motion was made by Larson, seconded by Hoffman, carried, to approve the second reading of the ordinances. 

A motion was made by Hoffman, seconded by Larson, carried, to approve the following claims for payment: 

General AND WATER/SEWER: Menards – $43.90 – Office Ceiling Tile, Sanborn Weekly Journal – $61.99 Advertising Minutes, On Sight – $577.61 – Security Camera/Installation, Sanborn Weekly Journal – $40.19 – Renew Paper, Department of Environment and Natural Resources – $60.00 – Drinking Water Dues, Postmaster – $103.95 – postage/certified letter, United States Department of Agriculture – $156.00 – tower loan

The next board meeting will be held on July 2nd, 2018, at 7:00 p.m.
