Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. with Vice-Chairman Steve Larson presiding. Other members present were Ohlrogge, Blindauer, and P. Larson. Chairman Ebersdorfer was absent. Also present was Auditor Larson. Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by Blindauer, to approve the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried.
HIGHWAY
Lee Goergen, Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor, presented an approach application from Todd VanWalleghen on the south side of Section 16 in Butler Township a half mile west of Highway 37. Motion by P. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the permit. All ayes. Motion carried. Goergen presented an Agreement from the State of South Dakota Department of Transportation for the Bridge Improvement Grant for Preliminary Engineering. The grant is for structure number 56-220-169, project number BRO 8056(00)19-1 PCN 071V. Motion by P. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the agreement. All ayes. Motion carried. The Highway Department will be working a five-day week from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day starting November 5th.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
A motion by Blindauer, seconded by Ohlrogge, to go into executive session at 9:50 a.m. All ayes. Motion carried. S. Larson declared an end to executive session at 10:00 a.m.
PLAT
Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, presented a plat for 10 acres for Verald and Patty Baysinger for Tract B of Baysinger’s Addition in the E/2NE/4SE/4 and the NE/4 lying South of the Railroad, 30-107-61. By recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by P. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the plat. All ayes. Motion carried.
CANVAS
The board canvased the vote for the 2018 General Election.
SUPPLEMENT BUDGET
Auditor Larson requested to supplement the Clerk of Courts budget from contingency in the amount of $6,000.00 to pay for the speaker system in the courtroom. Motion by Blindauer, seconded by P. Larson, to transfer the monies. All ayes. Motion carried. A donation was received for the sheriff’s office in the amount $500.00 for protective gear. Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by Blindauer, to supplement the sheriff’s budget in the amount of $500.00. All ayes. Motion carried.
INSURANCE
Dennis Mahowald, HUB Insurance, met with the board to discuss health insurance. Different options will be studied and a decision made.
