Sylvester’s Sand Volleyball Tournament took place at the park by Lake Prior in Woonsocket on the Fourth of July as a part of the “Looney Woony” Fourth of July Water Festival. 

This year there were 14 teams who took part in a double elimination tournament and the last game didn’t get over until 10 p.m. that night after the fireworks had already started.

The team winning first place received medals sponsored by Santel Communications, and the team winning second place received protein shakes and other nutrition products from the new Max Muscle plant in Woonsocket.

A team from Mitchell named Holz and Polz earned first place and a local team calling themselves, Mean Kittys, earned second place honors.
