Sanborn County Commissioners proceedings

AUGUST 6, 2019

Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Jeff Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were: Steve Larson, Ray Ohlrogge, Gary Blindauer, and Paul Larson. Also present was Auditor Diane Larson.  Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by Blindauer, to approve the minutes as presented. All ayes. Motion carried. 

CHN

Marla Feistner, Sanborn County Health Nurse, met with the board to give her biannual report.  

HIGHWAY

Stacy Mendenhall, Highway Superintendent, and Sheri Kogel, Administrative Assistant, met with the board. Changes were made on their budget request. Mendenhall reported on the road work being done, gravel hauled, and rock being placed on washed out roads. Once again, the continuing wet conditions are making it a challenge. Motion by P. Larson, seconded by Blindauer, to hire Jim Gorter for the highway department at a wage of $13.50 per hour with $14.50 after three months’ probation. All ayes. Motion carried.    

SHERIFF

Tom Fridley, Sheriff, met with the board to discuss the sheriff department 2020 budget.    

DIRECTOR OF EQUALIZATION

Penny Farris, Director of Equalization, met with the board.  Farris presented a plat for Harvey and Karen Fouberg.  Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve A Plat of D-J Fouberg Tract 1, a Subdivision of the NE ¼ of Section 35, T 105N, R 61 W of the 5th P.M., Sanborn County, South Dakota.

Motion by Blindauer, seconded by P. Larson, to declare an HP printer from the Director of Equalization Office, which is not compatible to our software, surplus and gift it to Letcher City. All ayes. Motion carried.   

BUDGETS

Budgets from the different departments were reviewed.   

INDIGENT REQUEST

Motion by Blindauer, seconded by S. Larson, to pay electricity bill for indigent in the amount of $91.60.    All ayes.  Motion carried.

SUPPLEMENT BUDGETS

Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by S. Larson, to supplement the auditor budget for $3,125.80 and the courthouse budget for $8,028.89 for monies received from insurance company for damages done from water leakage.  All ayes.  Motion carried.

Motion by Blindauer, seconded by P. Larson, to transfer $750,000.00 to the highway for cash applied which was accounted for in the 2019 budget.  All ayes.  Motion carried.
