Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew meets

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on May 17 at the Community Center in Woonsocket. Prior to the meeting, members played a couple rounds of Family Feud.

The meeting was called to order by President Xavier Baysinger. The Flag Pledge was led by Ty Burkel, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Alexa Goertz.

Roll call was led by Vice President Bailey Feistner with the topic, “What is Your Favorite Color?” which was answered by 20 members.

The secretary’s report was read by Megan Linke and approved as presented.

The treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Evan Ohlrogge and approved as presented.

Hope Baysinger gave a health/safety report on protecting yourself from mosquitoes.

Lane Burkel, Megan Linke and Evan Ohlrogge reported on State Shooting Sports. Sutton Senska, Lane Burkel and Hope Baysinger told the members about the projects they submitted to win movie tickets.

For old business, the club had a drawing for movie tickets for anyone who brought shoes for the Soles4Souls Statewide Community Service Project. Henry Feistner and Megan Linke won the movie tickets.

The club reviewed the schedule for the barrel setting fundraiser over Memorial Day weekend. They talked about participating in the Sanborn County Farmers Union/4-H Day on May 21.

Under new business, everyone was reminded that market animal weigh-in and YQCA training is on May 22. Anyone planning to exhibit animals needs to enter their animals in 4-H online by June 1.

The group decided to participate in the Woonsocket American Legion Memorial Day program as the “special speakers.” They will work on a plan of what they will present.

Members were encouraged to participate in the Special Foods Contest on May 29. They reviewed the planned changes for the Achievement Day schedule.

The members will plan to help American Legion Auxiliary distribute poppies on Wednesday, May 22.

It was suggested by Shiloh Senska that the club plan a ditch clean-up between the three-mile corner and the 4-H Building. They decided to wait until later in the summer when hopefully there is less water and fewer mosquitoes.

Following the meeting, members wrote personal notes in cards to their elderly friends.
