Last week, Oct. 4-10, was Fire Prevention Week. According to the Department of Public Safety, this year’s theme was kitchen safety. South Dakota’s Fire Marshal says that while the kitchen can be one of the favorite rooms in the house, it can also be a deadly one.

The Woonsocket Elementary School had Jason Bruce, who is a member of the school staff and a Woonsocket Firefighter, go to each classroom to talk to the elementary students about fire safety and proper reactions if a fire should happen to break out in their home.
