The Town and Kountry Kids Blue Group met on April 30 at the Letcher Community Center. Twenty-six members were present for the meeting. A horticulture skill-a-thon was held at the beginning of the meeting for members. The meeting was called to order by President Brady Larson. The pledges were led by Cain Zoss and Ramsey Fouberg. Roll call was completed by Hudson Fouberg. The secretary’s report was approved. Bryce Larson, health officer, provided the club members with sun safety tips. No safety officer report was available. Janet provided a brief review of parliamentary procedure for members.
Old Business:
Memphis Moody and Ramsey Fouberg reported on State Shooting Sports.
Delaney Zoss provided an update on Teen Leadership Academy.
Cole Wilson and Miley Adams reported on how the eye glass collection boxes are doing at the Letcher Community Church, Sanborn Central school and local bank. Leaders will check on the date to have these boxes collected by.
The Executive Committee provided a report on their meeting. Club goals were discussed and are as follows:
• 1) Every member completes a record book (help will be offered by club officers and leaders)
• 2) Every member completes a demonstration at the club level or county level
• 3) Every member completes at least one project for Achievement Days.
New Business:
Stacy provided an update on the park and will contact the family that originally purchased the tree to determine if they will be donating another tree.
The group discussed the need for more rock to be added to the park and a motion was made to order rock. Steve and Stacy were going to talk to Bill Zoss about trucking.
Stacy also reported that the basketball hoops were purchased and have arrived but still need to be installed. Matt and Angie Meier will be in charge of this. The club will need some additional help to get these installed.
Steve Zoss reported that his contact about the Buzzer board was out of the office but should be returning his call soon, so he can get this ordered.
The club field trip will be on June 7 for those who can make it. The group will be traveling to SDSU and touring the Dairy Farm and Ice Cream making facility (Davis Dairy Plant) and the Wellness facility on campus. Club members need to contact a leader if they are in need of a ride. A sign up sheet was passed around for interested members.
Letcher Fun Days/All school reunion is scheduled for June 12.
• Deb will be organizing a soup tasting contest again. Morgan Hoffman volunteered to be part of the planning committee. Club members and families were encouraged to think about providing a soup for the contest.
• A bake sale will also take place at the Letcher Fun Days. Kelly Wilson and Brooklyn Larson volunteered to help with this committee. Members were encouraged to bring an item, wrapped individually, for the bake sale.
• Scott and Stacy Zoss families will be hosting the 5K Walk/Run on June 12 as well. Members may be asked to help with the sign up of walkers/runners before the race, handing out T-shirts, handing out water, etc. Committee members who volunteered are: Bryce Larson, Caleb Kneen, Cole Wilson and Ramsey Fouberg.
Jen Fouberg brought up the new exhibit form that will be required for static exhibits going to the State Fair. There will be a four entry limit at the State Fair on static exhibits. The new form can be found online.
Upcoming dates/events:
Stacy reminded everyone to check the “S’more” that Audra sends out. This can be found on the Facebook page as well. June 1 is the Horse Safety deadline, and July 1 is the YQCA deadline.
Clean up dates will be planned for May 8, depending on soccer schedules, etc. Members are asked to come when they can. The plan is to pick up the 4-H grounds and at the park in Letcher.
Central Electric Co-Op Appreciation Supper is scheduled for June 22. Volunteers may be needed for help. Club members should contact Velma if they are available.
June 30 is the Sanborn/Aurora/Jerauld/Buffalo County Horse Show. It will be held in Forestburg. Volunteers may be needed for this event to help in the lunch stand.
