Is there a doctor in the house? There was a third grade classroom in Woonsocket full of them last week on Tuesday and Wednesday! The students learned about the body through various activities, and then the learning activities were also focused around surgery. Fractions were cut, finding the area of rectilinear rectangles by cutting them into parts; contractions were cut and stitched together with apostrophes; and compound sentences were adhered with conjunctions on bandaids. The students got into character with all the surgical attire, as well as stethoscopes around their necks, a syringe shaped pen to do their work, and a prescription of candy treats to keep them energized through the daily tasks. So much engagement filled our days, as we demonstrated our learning of many concepts.
