An elementary literacy night with a camping theme was held on Friday, March 25, at Sanborn Central Elementary School. The festivities began at 3:30 p.m. Author Jean Patrick read to the students. A few of her books include “The Girl Who Struck Out Babe Ruth” and “Who Carved the Mountain? The Story of Mount Rushmore.” Students were treated to a s’more snack mix. Art activities, games, a scavenger hunt, and a photo booth were a few of the activities the students participated in. Parents were asked to join the “camp-in” at 4:45 p.m. A literacy packet containing games and activities were distributed during a parent meeting which stressed the importance of reading at home. Families were invited to play camping bingo. Each student was given a book to take home. Prizes were raffled including a cooler with camping supplies.
