School has started and Homecoming Week is right around the corner. Homecoming will start on Monday, Sept. 26, and continue through Friday, Sept. 30. The designated days for “Spirit Week” for seventh through 12th grade as voted on by the student council include:
Monday, Sept. 26 – ‘Merica Monday;
Tuesday, Sept. 27 – Tropical Tuesday;
Wednesday, Sept. 28 – Pajama Wednesday;
Thursday, Sept. 29 – Anything But a Backpack Thursday;
Friday, Sept. 30 – Spirit Day – Blackhawk Gear – Go Blackhawks!
On Monday, Sept. 26, Coronation will begin at 8 p.m. in the Woonsocket gym. There will be introductions for Football/Volleyball/Cross Country/Cheerleaders, etc. and other activities including the burning of the “W” built by the freshmen class.
On Friday, Sept. 30, the Woonsocket School will have their annual Blackhawk parade starting at 1 p.m. The theme this year (voted on by the student council) is “Board Games.” Businesses who are interested in participating in the parade can sign up when lining up for the parade at 12:30 p.m. by PVHC. The football game against the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers will start at 7 p.m. in Wessington Springs.
I’m also asking students and alumni to be respectful towards our community when celebrating traditions during the week of festivities.
Homecoming is arriving quickly, and we hope the community gets involved as much as the school. This is one of the biggest events of the year, so let’s make it memorable for everyone. Go Blackhawks!
