Chelsea Wenzel, the new counselor at Sanborn Central and Woonsocket, is originally from Wessington Springs but has just moved into her new home in Woonsocket.
Ms. Wenzel has become very accomplished in her career, going to high school at Wessington Springs, then moving on to college at South Dakota State University and getting her Master’s Degree at Colorado State. Ms. Wenzel has a decent-sized family consisting of her father who works as a farmer, her mother who is a beautician, her two brothers, her sister and her beloved dog Bobo. She does many things outside of her counseling career. She enjoys sleeping, being a cheerleading coach, working on the farm, being outside and riding four-wheelers.
Now you might be wondering how Ms. Wenzel made her decision to be a counselor.
“Being a doctor was too much work and just wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life. I would rather enjoy my job than do something that I didn’t enjoy as much,” she said.
She enjoys working with people, especially kids, and she also understands people much better than the average person would. “Be the change you want to see in the world,” by Mahatma Gandhi is her favorite quote which very closely relates with her job. Ms. Wenzel is especially happy with her job at Sanborn Central and Woonsocket and says she wouldn’t have it any other way.
